Mahazioth
Mahazioth is the youngest son in Heman's musical house, named at the end of a long list of brothers and then assigned, by lot, the twenty-third of the twenty-four courses of temple singers David organizes.
A Son of Heman
In David's roster of musicians the sons of Heman are listed in birth order: "Of Heman; the sons of Heman: Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel, and Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, and Romamti-ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, Mahazioth" (1Ch 25:4). Mahazioth closes the family line.
The Twenty-Third Course
When the lots are cast for the order of service, his name surfaces near the end of the schedule: "for the three and twentieth to Mahazioth, his sons and his brothers, twelve:" (1Ch 25:30). Each course is staffed at twelve men, his among them.
