Mallothi
Mallothi is one of the sons of Heman, listed in the Chronicler's roster of temple singers and given the nineteenth course in the divisional rota for sanctuary music.
A Son of Heman
The first list places him among Heman's fourteen sons: "Of Heman; the sons of Heman: Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel, and Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, and Romamti-ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, Mahazioth" (1 Ch 25:4). The catalog runs through the family from which the singers' courses are drawn.
The Nineteenth Course
When the courses are assigned by lot, Mallothi receives the nineteenth: "for the nineteenth to Mallothi, his sons and his brothers, twelve" (1 Ch 25:26). Each course consists of twelve men — the singer, with his sons and his brothers — and Mallothi heads one such division within the music of the sanctuary.
