Masrekah

Masrekah is a town in Edom, named only as the home of Samlah, one of the kings in the Edomite king-list. The notice is identical in both passages that mention it: "And Hadad died, and Samlah of Masrekah reigned in his stead" (Gn 36:36); "And Hadad died, and Samlah of Masrekah reigned in his stead" (1 Ch 1:47). The place is fixed by its association with this single ruler — it is the city Samlah came from when he succeeded Hadad on the Edomite throne.
