Meonothai

People · Updated 2026-05-07

Meonothai appears once, in a Judahite genealogy in 1 Chronicles 4, as the father of Ophrah. He stands in the same neighborhood of the list as Seraiah and Joab, in a cluster of Judahite craftsmen.

Father of Ophrah in the Judahite genealogy

The single notice records his line and places him among artisans: "And Meonothai begot Ophrah: and Seraiah begot Joab the father of Ge-harashim; for they were craftsmen" (1 Chr 4:14). Ge-harashim ("the valley of craftsmen") gives the cluster its character, and Meonothai is named as one of the fathers in that craftsman lineage of Judah.
