Meraiah

Meraiah is named once, as the head of the priestly father's house of Seraiah in the days of the high priest Joiakim son of Jeshua, in the post-exilic register of Nehemiah 12.

Head of the house of Seraiah

The list specifies which priest leads each ancestral house in Joiakim's generation: "And in the days of Joiakim were priests, heads of fathers' [houses]: of Seraiah, Meraiah; of Jeremiah, Hananiah;" (Neh 12:12). Meraiah heads the house tracing back to Seraiah, one of the chief priests who returned from Babylon with Zerubbabel and Jeshua.
