Meshelemiah
Meshelemiah is a Levite of the Korahite line, head of one of the courses of doorkeepers assigned to guard the tent of meeting and, later, the temple. He is identified through his father Kore and the wider house of Ebiasaph, and he is remembered for the strength of his household.
A Korahite Doorkeeper
The doorkeeping courses are organized along clan lines: "For the courses of the doorkeepers: of the Korahites, Meshelemiah the son of Kore, of the sons of Ebiasaph" (1Ch 26:1).
Father of Zechariah at the Tent of Meeting
His son Zechariah holds the same office at the entrance: "Zechariah the son of Meshelemiah was porter of the door of the tent of meeting" (1Ch 9:21).
His Sons and the Strength of His House
The list of his sons follows: "And Meshelemiah had sons: Zechariah the firstborn, Jediael the second, Zebadiah the third, Jathniel the fourth," (1Ch 26:2). The chronicler closes the notice on his household with a tally: "And Meshelemiah had sons and brothers, valiant men, eighteen" (1Ch 26:9).
