Mikloth

People · Updated 2026-05-06

Two men named Mikloth appear in the Chronicler's records: a Benjamite settled in Jerusalem and a military officer in David's monthly courses.

A Benjamite of Jerusalem

Mikloth appears within the Benjamite genealogy that traces the household of Saul's clan back through Jeiel of Gibeon. He is the father of Shimeah and is settled in the capital with his kin: "And Mikloth begot Shimeah. And they also dwelt with their brothers in Jerusalem, across from their brothers" (1Ch 8:32). The parallel listing places him among the named brothers and gives the son's name as Shimeam: "and Gedor, and Ahio, and Zechariah, and Mikloth. And Mikloth begot Shimeam. And they also dwelt with their brothers in Jerusalem, across from their brothers" (1Ch 9:37–38).

A Leader in David's Second Course

A Mikloth also serves under Dodai the Ahohite as a leader in the second monthly course of David's army: "And over the course of the second month was Dodai the Ahohite, and his course; and Mikloth the leader: and in his course were twenty and four thousand" (1Ch 27:4).
