Miletus
Miletus is a seaport on the western coast of Asia Minor. In the UPDV the city surfaces in Paul's farewell correspondence as the place where one of his coworkers had to be left behind.
Trophimus Left Sick
Writing to Timothy, Paul accounts for the absence of two companions in a single sentence: "Erastus stayed at Corinth: but Trophimus I left at Miletus sick" (2Ti 4:20). The notice is bare — no narrative around it, no further detail on the illness — and its function in the letter is to flag, alongside other personal travel notes, the scattering of Paul's circle as he writes from confinement.
