Mithcah

Places · Updated 2026-05-06

Mithcah (UPDV: Mithkah) is one of the wilderness encampments of Israel, named only in the itinerary of Numbers 33. It sits between Terah and Hashmonah and contributes nothing to the narrative beyond its place in the marching list.

A Stage in the Wilderness Itinerary

The notice is brief and stylized: "And they journeyed from Terah, and encamped in Mithkah. And they journeyed from Mithkah, and encamped in Hashmonah" (Num 33:28-29). It belongs to the long retrospective stage-list that records the camps from the exodus to the plains of Moab, and Mithkah's only contribution is its position in that sequence.
