Mizraim

People · Updated 2026-05-06

Mizraim is one of the four sons of Ham in the Table of Nations, ancestor of several peoples named in the early genealogies.

A Son of Ham

The Genesis Table of Nations lists him second among Ham's sons: "And the sons of Ham: Cush, and Mizraim, and Put, and Canaan" (Ge 10:6). The chronicler's parallel keeps the same order: "The sons of Ham: Cush, and Mizraim, Put, and Canaan" (1Ch 1:8).

Father of Several Peoples

His descendants are named in turn: "And Mizraim begot Ludim, and Anamim, and Lehabim, and Naphtuhim," (Ge 10:13), with the chronicler repeating the line verbatim: "And Mizraim begot Ludim, and Anamim, and Lehabim, and Naphtuhim," (1Ch 1:11).
