Mizzah
Mizzah is one of the four sons of Reuel and a grandson of Esau through Basemath, named in the Edomite genealogies of Genesis 36 and 1 Chronicles 1.
Son of Reuel
The Genesis 36 listing of Esau's descendants gives the four sons of Reuel together: "And these are the sons of Reuel: Nahath, and Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah: these were the sons of Basemath, Esau's wife" (Gen 36:13). A few verses later the same four names recur as Edomite chiefs: "And these are the sons of Reuel, Esau's son: chief Nahath, chief Zerah, chief Shammah, chief Mizzah: these are the chiefs who came of Reuel in the land of Edom; these are the sons of Basemath, Esau's wife" (Gen 36:17). The Chronicles genealogy preserves the list unchanged: "The sons of Reuel: Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah" (1Ch 1:37). Beyond the genealogies, no act or word is recorded of Mizzah; the name carries forward only as one of the chiefly heads of Edom.
