Nachon
Nachon is the threshing-floor where Uzzah died as the ark was being brought up to Jerusalem. The UPDV spells the place "Nacon" in Samuel and "Chidon" in the parallel account in Chronicles, but both refer to the same site associated with the death of Uzzah.
The threshing-floor of Nacon
The Samuel narrative anchors the incident at this location: "And when they came to the threshing-floor of Nacon, Uzzah put forth [his hand] to the ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen stumbled. And the anger of Yahweh was kindled against Uzzah; and [the Speech of] God struck him there for the error; and there he died by the ark of God" (2Sa 6:6-7). The place becomes the boundary marker for the failed first attempt to move the ark.
Also called Chidon
Chronicles tells the same story with the place under a different name: "And when they came to the threshing-floor of Chidon, Uzza put forth his hand to hold the ark; for the oxen stumbled" (1Ch 13:9). The shift from "Nacon" to "Chidon" identifies the two threshing-floor names with one another and locates Uzza's transgression at the same point in the procession.
