Naharai

Naharai is one of David's heroes, named in both the Samuel and Chronicles rosters of mighty men. He serves as armorbearer to Joab the son of Zeruiah, and his hometown ties him to Beeroth.

Armorbearer to Joab

The Samuel list names him alongside another foreigner-by-origin entry as an armorbearer of Joab: "Zelek the Ammonite, Naharai the Beerothite, armorbearers to Joab the son of Zeruiah," (2Sa 23:37). The parallel list in Chronicles repeats the pairing with a small spelling shift in the gentilic and the office in the singular: "Zelek the Ammonite, Naharai the Berothite, the armorbearer of Joab the son of Zeruiah," (1Ch 11:39).
