Naphtuhim

People · Updated 2026-05-06

The Naphtuhim are a people group descended from Mizraim, listed only in the Table of Nations and its Chronicler reprise. They appear in the chain of Egyptian peoples, between Lehabim and Pathrusim.

Descendants of Mizraim

The Genesis list places them within the line of Mizraim: "And Mizraim begot Ludim, and Anamim, and Lehabim, and Naphtuhim, and Pathrusim, and Casluhim (from where went forth the Philistines), and Caphtorim" (Ge 10:13-14). The Chronicler reproduces the same roster with the closing Philistine note attached differently: "And Mizraim begot Ludim, and Anamim, and Lehabim, and Naphtuhim, and Pathrusim, and Casluhim, from where the Philistines and Caphtorim came" (1Ch 1:11-12).
