Neiel appears once, as a landmark on the boundary of the tribe of Asher.

The tribal allotment for Asher traces a line that "turned toward the sunrising to Beth-dagon, and reached to Zebulun, and to the valley of Iphtah-el northward to Beth-emek and Neiel; and it went out to Cabul on the left hand," (Josh 19:27). The name surfaces only as one stop on this northern boundary, named alongside Beth-emek and Cabul.
