Neriah
Neriah is named in connection with Jeremiah's purchase of the family field at Anathoth, identified there as the father of Baruch.
Father of Baruch
When Jeremiah hands over the deed of his cousin's field for safekeeping, the text identifies the recipient by his lineage: "and I delivered the deed of the purchase to Baruch the son of Neriah, the son of Mahseiah, in the presence of Hanamel my cousin, and in the presence of the witnesses that subscribed the deed of the purchase, before all the Jews who sat in the court of the guard." (Jer 32:12). Neriah surfaces here only through this patronymic, set between Baruch and his grandfather Mahseiah.
