Nibhaz
Nibhaz is one of the foreign idols brought into Samaria by peoples whom the king of Assyria settled there after the deportation of Israel.
An idol of the Avvites
In the catalogue of imported gods, Nibhaz appears as a deity of the Avvites: "and the Avvites made Nibhaz and Tartak; and the Sepharvites burned their sons in the fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvaim." (2 Kgs 17:31). The verse pairs Nibhaz with Tartak and sets both alongside the more violent worship of Adrammelech and Anammelech that involved the burning of children.
