Paltiel

Paltiel is named as the prince of Issachar appointed to help apportion the land of Canaan among the tribes.

Prince of Issachar

The roster of tribal princes designated for the division of the inheritance lists him by tribe and father: "And of the tribe of the sons of Issachar a prince, Paltiel the son of Azzan" (Numbers 34:26). He stands among the twelve named representatives — one drawn from each landed tribe — set alongside Eleazar and Joshua to oversee the allotment.
