The text records one standing system of regular maintenance: the allocation of holy portions to the Levites, the priests, and their households under Hezekiah's reform.

Provision for the Levites under Hezekiah

When Hezekiah reorganized the temple service, he set in place a recurring distribution of oblations, tithes, and dedicated things to the priests and Levites and their families, with named overseers and a registered body of recipients. The recipients are enrolled by genealogy and age and tied to their courses of service: "besides those who were reckoned by genealogy of males, from three years old and upward, even everyone who entered into the house of Yahweh, as the duty of every day required, for their service in their offices according to their courses; and those who were reckoned by genealogy of the priests by their fathers' houses, and the Levites from twenty years old and upward, in their offices by their courses; and those who were reckoned by genealogy of all their little ones, their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, through all the congregation: for in their office of trust they sanctified themselves in holiness" (2Ch 31:16-18).

The maintenance reaches the priestly households living outside Jerusalem as well: "Also for the sons of Aaron the priests, who were in the fields of the suburbs of their cities, in every city, there were men who were mentioned by name, to give portions to all the males among the priests, and to all who were reckoned by genealogy among the Levites" (2Ch 31:19). The structure is concrete: chambers in the house of Yahweh prepared as a storehouse, named officers who supervise, and named distributors in each priestly city, so that the support reaches every registered household.
