Phurah
Phurah appears once in the UPDV — under the spelling Purah — as the personal attendant of Gideon during the night-reconnaissance that precedes the rout of Midian. He is named only twice, both within the same scene, and is given no genealogy, tribal note, or later mention.
Gideon's Attendant
When Yahweh tells Gideon to listen at the edge of the Midianite camp before attacking, the offer is conditional on Gideon's nerve: "But if you fear to go down, you and Purah your attendant go down to the camp" (Jud 7:10). The narrative immediately follows him through: "Then went he down with Purah his attendant to the outermost part of the armed men who were in the camp" (Jud 7:11).
The function is restricted to a single moment. Purah goes down with Gideon, hears what Gideon hears, and is the silent witness to the dream-and-interpretation overheard among the enemy soldiers — material that strengthens Gideon's hand for the assault that follows.
