Pinon

Pinon is one of the chiefs of Edom listed in the Esau genealogies. He is named only in the chief-list itself — twice, identically — with no further story attached.

A Chief of Edom

In the closing register of Esau's descendants, Pinon stands among the chiefs of the line: "chief Oholibamah, chief Elah, chief Pinon" (Gen 36:41). The Chronicler reproduces the same triad in the same order, "chief Oholibamah, chief Elah, chief Pinon" (1 Chr 1:52), preserving the Edomite roll without expansion. The figure exists in the text only as an item in this catalogue of Edom's clan-heads.
