Pithon

People · Updated 2026-05-07

Pithon is a son of Micah in the Benjaminite line descending from Saul through Jonathan and Mephibosheth. He appears only in the two parallel genealogies of 1 Chronicles.

A Saulide Descendant

The first listing of Micah's sons in the Benjaminite roll places Pithon at the head of the four brothers: "And the sons of Micah: Pithon, and Melech, and Tarea, and Ahaz." (1Ch 8:35). The parallel passage repeats the same family with a slight spelling shift on the third son and a bracketed restoration of the fourth: "And the sons of Micah: Pithon, and Melech, and Tahrea, [and Ahaz]." (1Ch 9:41). Pithon's place in both registers is fixed — first-named son of Micah, four generations down from Jonathan, deep inside the family tree of Israel's first royal house.
