Places to Stay
"Places to stay" is the UPDV rendering of the Greek μοναί (monai) in John 14:2, where Jesus says: "In my Father's house are many places to stay; if it were not so, would I tell you⁺ that I go to prepare a place for you⁺?" UPDV uses this phrase where older translations have "mansions" (KJV) or "rooms" (NIV/ESV).
The statement is part of Jesus' farewell discourse, assuring his disciples that his departure to prepare a place is purposeful and that he will return to receive them (Jn 14:3).
