Joshua 13:26 sets the town along Gad's boundary description: "and from Heshbon to Ramath-mizpeh, and Betonim; and from Mahanaim to the border of Lidebor." It is named between Heshbon and Betonim in the trace of the inheritance running north toward Mahanaim.
