Rithmah

Places · Updated 2026-05-06

Rithmah is one of the wilderness stopping-places named in the itinerary of Israel's journey from Egypt toward the land of promise. It is mentioned only in the Numbers travel-list, framed by an arrival and a departure.

A Camping Place in the Wilderness

After the encampment at Hazeroth, Israel comes to Rithmah and then moves on: "And they journeyed from Hazeroth, and encamped in Rithmah" (Num 33:18); "And they journeyed from Rithmah, and encamped in Rimmon-perez" (Num 33:19). The place receives no narrative beyond its appearance in the chain of stages — no incident, no oracle, no landmark — only the bare fact of arrival and the next departure.
