Samgar-Nebo
Samgar-nebo is one of the Babylonian officials who took up position in Jerusalem at the city's fall.
At the Fall of Jerusalem
When Nebuchadnezzar's army breached the city, the Babylonian princes entered and seated themselves in the middle gate. Samgar-nebo is named among them: "And all the princes of the king of Babylon came in, and sat in the middle gate, [to wit,] Nergal-sharezer, Samgar-nebo, Sar-sechim the Rabsaris, Nergal-sharezer the Rabmag, with all the rest of the princes of the king of Babylon" (Jer 39:3). The middle gate becomes the seat from which the conquerors administer the captured city, and Samgar-nebo's name is preserved in the roster of those officials.
