Semein

Semein appears in the genealogy of Jesus recorded by Luke. UPDV places him in the ancestral line: "the [son] of Maath, the [son] of Mattathias, the [son] of Semein, the [son] of Josech, the [son] of Joda" (Lk 3:26). He is one of the ancestors listed between Zerubbabel and the line running toward Nathan and David. Semein appears only at this point in UPDV. Older versions render the name "Semei."
