Seorim

Seorim is the head of the fourth priestly division in the lots cast under David for the courses of priestly service. The name appears in the sequence of twenty-four divisions: "the third to Harim, the fourth to Seorim," (1Chr 24:8).

The Fourth Course

The chapter records the casting of lots that fixed the rotation of priestly duty in the sanctuary. Seorim's lot fell fourth in the order, placing his house in the rotation between Harim before him and Malchijah after him. The name marks a priestly household by its position in that rotation; the text says nothing further of the man.
