Shallecheth
Shallecheth is the name of one of the gates of the temple, set on the western side of the precinct and tied to the causeway that climbed up to it.
The Westward Gate
The single notice of the gate places it within the levitical gatekeeper assignments under David. Shuppim and Hosah are posted to the west: "To Shuppim and Hosah westward, by the gate of Shallecheth, at the causeway that goes up, watch against watch" (1Ch 26:16). The gate is fixed to a specific point of access — the causeway rising toward the temple — and the gatekeeper rotation there is described as watch against watch, two posts answering one another along the western approach.
