Shallun son of Colhozeh appears once in the wall-rebuilding roster of Nehemiah, named as the ruler of the district of Mizpah and the man responsible for repairing the fountain gate.

The Fountain Gate

Within the section-by-section register of the rebuilding work, Shallun's stretch is laid out in detail. "And the fountain gate repaired Shallun the son of Colhozeh, the ruler of the district of Mizpah; he built it, and covered it, and set up its doors, its bolts, and its bars, and the wall of the pool of Shelah by the king's garden, even to the stairs that go down from the city of David" (Ne 3:15). His assignment is unusually fully described — the fabric of the gate (built, covered), its hardware (doors, bolts, bars), and the adjoining wall stretch running past the pool of Shelah, the king's garden, and the descending stairs of the city of David.
