Sharar
Sharar appears once in the UPDV, named only as the father of one of David's warriors. A parallel passage in Chronicles preserves the same man under the variant spelling Sacar.
Father of Ahiam
In the roster of David's mighty men, Sharar is identified as a Hararite and the father of Ahiam: "the son of Shammah the Hararite, Ahiam the son of Sharar the Ararite," (2Sa 23:33).
The Variant Spelling Sacar
The Chronicler's parallel list of David's warriors records the same father-son pairing with the name spelled Sacar: "Ahiam the son of Sacar the Hararite, Eliphal the son of Ur," (1Ch 11:35). Both verses agree on the patronymic of Ahiam and on the family designation Hararite; the consonantal difference between Sharar and Sacar is the only point at which the two lists diverge.
