Sheal appears once in the UPDV, named in Ezra's list of post-exilic men descended from Bani who had married foreign wives and were required to put them away.

In the closing roster of Ezra 10, the sons of Bani are itemized as part of the wider reform: "And of the sons of Bani: Meshullam, Malluch, and Adaiah, Jashub, and Sheal, Jeremoth." (Ezr 10:29). Sheal stands between Jashub and Jeremoth in the line; nothing else about his life is recorded.
