Shear-jashub
Shear-jashub appears once in the UPDV, named as the son of Isaiah whom the prophet was instructed to bring with him when he went out to meet Ahaz.
The Son Sent with Isaiah to Meet Ahaz
At the opening of the Immanuel cycle, Yahweh's word to Isaiah pairs father and son for a single errand: "Then Yahweh said to Isaiah, Go forth now to meet Ahaz, you, and Shear-jashub your son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool, in the highway of the fuller's field;" (Isa 7:3). The location — the upper pool's outlet, on the road to the fuller's field — fixes the scene at Jerusalem's water supply, where the king was inspecting the city's defenses against the threat of Rezin and Pekah. Shear-jashub stands at his father's side as Isaiah brings the divine word to Ahaz, but the boy himself speaks no recorded line.
