Sheleph

Sheleph appears in the UPDV as one of the sons of Joktan in the Table of Nations and again in the parallel genealogy at the head of Chronicles.

Son of Joktan

The Genesis genealogy of Shem traces the descent through Eber to Joktan and his sons: "And Joktan begot Almodad, and Sheleph, and Hazarmaveth, and Jerah," (Ge 10:26). Sheleph stands second in the list of Joktan's sons. The Chronicler repeats the same names in the same order: "And Joktan begot Almodad, and Sheleph, and Hazarmaveth, and Jerah," (1Ch 1:20). The two lists agree word for word in the placement of Sheleph among Joktan's descendants.
