Shemaah
Shemaah is named for the sake of his sons, two of the warriors who came to David at Ziklag.
A Gibeathite Father
The Chronicler's roster of the men who joined David in his exile begins with Benjamite kinsmen of Saul, and the second pair listed are Shemaah's sons: "The chief was Ahiezer; then Joash, the sons of Shemaah the Gibeathite, and Jeziel, and Pelet, the sons of Azmaveth, and Beracah, and Jehu the Anathothite" (1 Chr 12:3). Shemaah himself does not appear in the narrative; the text records him only as the Gibeathite father whose two sons crossed over to David's company.
