Sheol
Sheol is the Hebrew word for the unseen state — the underworld of the dead, the place beneath, the swallower that is never satisfied — corresponding in the Greek scriptures to Hades. UPDV preserves the word transliterated rather than collapsing it into a single English term, keeping it distinct from Gehenna and Tartarus in the broader vocabulary of post-mortem judgment.
