Sheva
Two men in scripture bear the name Sheva: a scribe in David's court and a descendant of Caleb in the Chronicler's Judah genealogy.
David's Scribe
The name Sheva appears once for the scribe of David's administration. The roster of officials in 2Sa 20:25 includes him among the heads of the king's household: "and Sheva was scribe; and Zadok and Abiathar were priests." Parallel rosters for the same office give the name in different forms — "Seraiah" in 2Sa 8:17, "Shisha" as the father of two later scribes in 1Ki 4:3, and "Shavsha" in 1Ch 18:16 — but only 2Sa 20:25 carries the spelling Sheva.
Son of Caleb
The Judah genealogy in 1Ch 2:49 names a second Sheva among the descendants of Caleb through his concubine Maacah: "She bore also Shaaph the father of Madmannah, Sheva the father of Machbena, and the father of Gibea; and the daughter of Caleb was Achsah." This Sheva is the father of Machbena and stands within the wider Calebite line that also produced Achsah.
