Shilhi
Shilhi is named only as the maternal grandfather of King Jehoshaphat of Judah. The two notices that mention him are parallel reign-formula entries — one in Kings, one in Chronicles — and both reach him only by way of his daughter Azubah.
The Maternal Grandfather of Jehoshaphat
The Kings notice attaches Shilhi to Jehoshaphat's reign-formula: "Jehoshaphat was thirty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and five years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi" (1 Kings 22:42). The Chronicles parallel records the same descent in the same shape: "And Jehoshaphat reigned over Judah: he was thirty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and five years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi" (2 Chr 20:31).
In both verses Shilhi is mentioned only to identify Azubah, who in turn is mentioned only to identify Jehoshaphat's mother. He is not given an occupation, tribe, or town, and the texts record nothing he says or does.
