Shimronites

The Shimronites are a clan within the tribe of Issachar, traced back to Shimron in the wilderness census.

A Clan of Issachar

The clan is named in the second-generation census in the plains of Moab, listed among the families of Issachar: "of Jashub, the family of the Jashubites; of Shimron, the family of the Shimronites" (Nu 26:24). The name follows the regular pattern of the census — each Issacharite ancestor gives his name to a family — and locates the Shimronites as descendants of Shimron son of Issachar.
