Shiphtan

Shiphtan is the father of Kemuel, the Ephraimite prince appointed to apportion the inheritance of the land.

Father of the Ephraimite Prince

He is named once, in the list of tribal princes commissioned to divide the land among the Israelites: "And of the tribe of the sons of Ephraim a prince, Kemuel the son of Shiphtan" (Nu 34:24). Shiphtan himself does not act in the narrative; the verse identifies him as patronymic to the Ephraimite representative on the apportionment committee.
