Shobi
Shobi is the son of Nahash of Rabbah, an Ammonite who comes to David's aid when the king has fled Jerusalem during the revolt of his son Absalom. He is one of three men who meet David at Mahanaim with provisions.
Help at Mahanaim
When David crosses the Jordan and reaches Mahanaim, weary and hungry, Shobi appears in the small group that brings supplies:
And it came to pass, when David came to Mahanaim, that Shobi the son of Nahash of Rabbah of the sons of Ammon, and Machir the son of Ammiel of Lodebar, and Barzillai the Gileadite of Rogelim, (2Sa 17:27)
The verse places Shobi alongside Machir and Barzillai. The three together carry the king through the danger of the rebellion. Shobi's Ammonite parentage is notable — he belongs to a people often at war with Israel, yet he stands with David in the king's worst hour. Nothing else is reported of him.
