Soothsayer

A soothsayer is a practitioner of divination who claims to disclose hidden things or future events through occult means — a profession scripture forbids and groups with sorcery, mediums, astrologers, and false prophets. The figure surfaces among the Egyptians, the Babylonians, Balaam, the slave girl at Philippi, and the various charlatans the apostles confront.
