Sorrel appears once in scripture as a horse color, in Zechariah's opening night vision.

A Horse Color

In the first vision among Zechariah's eight, the prophet sees a rider on a red horse standing among myrtle-trees in a low place, with other horses behind him. The horses are catalogued by color: "I saw in the night, and, look, a man riding on a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle-trees that were in the bottom; and behind him there were horses, red, sorrel, and white" (Zec 1:8). Sorrel sits between red and white in the list, distinguishing one of the three colors of the patrolling horses.
