Sosthenes

Sosthenes is named in UPDV as a Christian associated with Paul, identified by Paul as his "brother" and joined to him in the salutation of the first letter to the Corinthians.

Co-Sender of First Corinthians

He stands beside Paul in the opening of the letter, sharing the address to the Corinthian assembly: "Paul, a called apostle of Christ Jesus through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother" (1 Co 1:1). The pairing places him with Paul at the time and place of writing, and the description "our brother" identifies him as a fellow believer rather than a courier or co-author distinguished by office.
