Sotai
Sotai is a servant of Solomon whose descendants are listed among those who returned from the Babylonian captivity to Jerusalem. The name leads the catalog of "Solomon's slaves" in both parallel returnee registers.
In the Returnee Lists
Ezra's enumeration of the temple-servant guilds opens this sub-list with Sotai's family: "The sons of Solomon's slaves: the sons of Sotai, the sons of Hassophereth, the sons of Peruda" (Ezr 2:55). The Nehemiah parallel is identical at this point: "The sons of Solomon's slaves: the sons of Sotai, the sons of Sophereth, the sons of Perida" (Ne 7:57). The two registers preserve the same household at the head of the list, marking Sotai's line as one whose descendants persisted through the exile and were counted at the return.
