Stiff-necked

Stiff-necked is the prophetic and Mosaic figure for unyielding hardness toward God — a refusal to bend the neck under correction, rebuke, or covenant claim — used of Israel in the wilderness, of antediluvian and pagan generations, and of individuals who persist in resisting reproof.
