Susi

Susi is named once, as the father of Gaddi: "Of the tribe of Joseph, [namely], of the tribe of Manasseh, Gaddi the son of Susi" (Nu 13:11). His son represents Manasseh on the spy-roster Moses sends into Canaan.

Father of the Manasseh Spy

The setting is Yahweh's command at Paran: "Send men for you, that they may spy out the land of Canaan… of every tribe of their fathers you⁺ will send a man, every one a prince among them" (Nu 13:2). The chapter then names one prince per tribe (Nu 13:4-15). Gaddi the son of Susi stands in the eighth slot, representing the half of Joseph that is Manasseh (Nu 13:11). The text gives nothing further about Susi himself — only that his son was chosen as Manasseh's spy.
