Sychem

Sychem is an alternate New Testament spelling of Shechem, used both for the central-Canaan city associated with the patriarchs and burial of Joseph, and as the name borne by the son of Hamor in the Genesis narrative. The form preserves the same Hebrew name in Greek transliteration and points to the same biblical material covered under Shechem.
