Tabbaoth
Tabbaoth is the head of one of the families of those given to temple service — the Nethinim — whose descendants return from the exile and are listed in the rosters of Ezra and Nehemiah. The name appears only in those two parallel lists, always inside the same triplet of houses: Ziha, Hasupha, and Tabbaoth.
In the Returnees' Roster
The Ezra roll opens the section on the temple servants with this triplet at its head: "Those given [to temple service]: the sons of Ziha, the sons of Hasupha, the sons of Tabbaoth" (Ezr 2:43). Nehemiah's parallel record repeats the entry without variation: "Those given [to temple service]: the sons of Ziha, the sons of Hasupha, the sons of Tabbaoth" (Ne 7:46). The position is fixed — Tabbaoth's house stands third in the lead group of those given to the temple — and the function is named in the bracketed clarification each list carries: this is a family attached to the service of the second temple.
