Temper

Temper, in scripture's vocabulary, names the disposition of the inner life under provocation — whether the flaring heat of anger, the settled ill-will of malice, or the disciplined restraint that holds passion in check. The biblical accent falls on governing this inward bent so that wrath does not produce harm, malice does not take root, and the person ruled by self-mastery walks in patience and peace.
